Synopsis: error reporting
Severity: non-critical
Priority: low
Category: krb5-appl
Class: change-request
Release: 1.2.5
Environment: ibm thinkpad 380xd
System: linux 2.4.2
Machine: ibm thinkpad 380xd
Description:
kadmin returns:
Authenticating as principal root/admin@RANDYTOOL.NET with password.
kadmin: Required parameters in kdc.conf missing while initializing kadmin interface
No log records the error. I wish I knew what required parameters.
kadmin.local runs.
Trying to use sclient, I get this error message:
sendauth rejected, error reply is:
" No such file or directory"
syslog records:
sserver: recvauth failed--No such file or directory
I wish it would tell me what file or directory it did not find. I
figured out that it missed /etc/krb5.keytab, which I did not create
because kadmin did not run. I figured out how to create it with
kadmin.local.
After I got sserver/sclient and sim_server/sim_client working. I
tried the Cyrus SASL sample server. It returns 'No principal in
keytab matches desired name'. I wish I knew what principal it lacked.
I use the same account and service I used with sclient and sim_client.
How-To-Repeat:
Obvious, I think.
Fix:
Make the error reports more discursive.
