Subject: | Construct NSIS installer for Kerberos for Windows |
Kerberos for Windows has been shipped outside of MIT as a set of binary
files without an installer for many years. As more programs on Windows
begin to depend on KfW it is important that there be a means of
installing it in a standard way. This will be especially important if
multiple applications are shipping KfW to ensure that it is installed
somewhere.
The NullSoft Installer System has proven to be a very flexible
installation tool which also happens to be open source. NSIS has been
adopted for the installation of OpenAFS. OpenAFS is just one example of
a third party product which will require integrated installation with
KfW. It is proposed that an NSIS installer be created out of modules
which can be plugged into third party NSIS installers.
