Subject: Possible bug in NetIDMgr
Date: Mon, 23 Jan 2006 21:07:19 -0600
Using NetIDMgr 1.0.0.0 on a PC running XP but not part of a Domain, It says
(No identities specified) in Credentials, when I enter my Username of
b28384. Through experimentation, it looks like that is the only response I
can get when the Username has a number in it. If I enter of valid Username
that is all letters, it works. I am able to use the command line kinit to
get a ticket as b28384@ANL.GOV. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Ray Carlson

This is a known bug in KFW 3.0 that will be fixed in KFW 3.1. We
expect a beta release in the next couple of weeks.

This message from 2/14 talked about a Beta release, of KFW 3.1 that would
fix the known NetIDMgr problem of not working with numbers, being released
in a couple of weeks. Now that 6 weeks have passed, I was wondering if
there was any better estimate of a fix being available. Since our IDs
contain numbers, I have had to revert back to old MIT Kerberos for windows
until a fix has been created. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Due to lack of resources, the KFW release has been delayed
until other projects are completed. If you have a deadline
by which you require functionality of KFW 3.x, please let
us know.

Thanks for the information. We don't have a deadline because we will just
stay with the old version, 2.6.5, until you get a version that works with
numbers in the ID.

Now that it is 4 months later, I was wondering if any progress had been

Any information appreciated.

Thanks for the quick response. I didn't get an Email, but I've now
downloaded the beta and installed it. It now gets a ticket for my userid
with numbers in it.

Thanks again,
Ray Carlson
