If a previously unknown principal has an expired password when the
Identity is first checked (in other words there is no registry entry for
the principal), then the Obtain new credentials dialog displays the
following link in the Credentials section of the dialog:
Clicking on the "here" link changes the dialog to the change password
dialog. As of 3.1 pre-beta 2-200610063 and 2006106 this now works.
BUT... if the principal has previously authenticated successfully AND the
NIM has created an Identity for it (in other words there IS a registry
entry for the Identity), then the "Click here to change password" link is
NOT displayed in the credentials dialog if the password for the principal
has expired.
